12 January, 2018Mallow Credit Union Searches for “Fearless Four” to take on All Ireland Schools’ Quiz
Mallow Credit Union has launched a search for teams of four, fearless schoolchildren who can make it through the national final of the All Ireland Credit Union Schools’ Quiz. The credit union is inviting all primary schools in the Mallow Credit Union Common Bond area to register for the 2018 Schools’ Quiz, & is urging all schoolchildren to put a super-heroic effort into preparing for the quiz!
Each year around 25,000 schoolchildren across Ireland take part in the quiz, which is now in its 27th year. The quiz begins with a knockout stage at local level, organised by Mallow Credit Union, taking place at The Hibernian Hotel, Mallow at 4:30pm on Friday 26th January 2018. There will be prizes for the winning teams who will also progress to the regional knockout stage in early March. The winning teams of “fearless” four from that gruelling competition will make it through to the Grand Final in the RDS, Dublin on Sunday April 8th 2018. This year a total of €4,000 is up for grabs for the winning schools at the national finals.
The quiz is a an enjoyable and fun way for schools in the area to nurture a culture of partnership among students and all schools are encouraged to register for the 2018 event. A core focus of this event is to encourage learning in a teamwork setting & equip children from a young age with the necessary skills to collaborate with others in the workplace. Questions will cover a wide range of topics including geography, history, music, literature & sport.
The quiz is divided into 2 sections; Competition A for children up to 11 years & Competition B for children between 11 & 13 years. The winning teams at the national finals will receive €1,250 per school with the runner up teams in each category receiving €750 for their schools.
